The Fleet Management Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, repair, overall management, and support functions of a fleet of approximately 2,616 County vehicles and pieces of equipment, in addition to providing services to external contracted government agencies with over 600 units. These vehicles serve employees of all County agencies and departments’ transportation and operational needs to carry out their day-to-day business activities.
Supportive services include multiple County owned fueling sites, automotive collision repairs, regulatory compliance, lift truck (forklift) operator training, installation of specialized equipment, in-field services and repairs, fabrication, emissions compliance testing, and operation of a motor pool (rental fleet) for County departments to use on a short-term basis.

“Green” vehicles comprise over 28% of the County Fleet including vehicles such as Battery Electric, Hybrid Electric, Plug-In Hybrid Electric, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric, Neighborhood Electric, Compressed Natural Gas, and Liquid Propane Gas vehicles. Renewable Diesel is used to power diesel vehicles and pieces of equipment to further reduce transportation related greenhouse gas emissions.
The Fleet Management Division is recognized as a top leading fleet in the nation and has earned multiple national awards including the Top 50 NAFA Green Fleet Award in North America, 100 Best Fleets in the Americas award, and two consecutive Top 50 Leading Fleets awards.
